Remote Neurofeedback – Monthly Rental Program

For clients who prefer flexibility or live outside the Portland area, we offer a complete remote neurofeedback program. You’ll receive a fully configured laptop and neurofeedback system, ready to use at home.

In most cases, we recommend beginning with five in-office neurofeedback sessions before transitioning to remote training. These sessions allow us to establish your protocol, ensure the equipment is used correctly, and help you become comfortable with the process.

For clients who live outside the Portland area or cannot attend in person, we can begin directly with the remote program and provide additional onboarding support.

This program allows you to train your brain on your own schedule as often as you like, without the need for ongoing office visits. Your session data is shared with your clinician, who monitors your progress and fine-tunes your training protocol remotely.

You’ll also have regular check-ins with your clinician to review results, make adjustments, and ensure your training continues to align with your goals.

  • Monthly rental: $1,095 per month
  • Refundable equipment deposit required
  • Minimum 3-month rental contract required

This is a convenient, cost-effective way to experience the full benefits of neurofeedback from home while maintaining professional guidance and oversight.

Patient Services – Biofeedback and Neurofeedback Costs

The cost for Biofeedback or Neurofeedback cost will depend on a number of factors, including:

  • how quickly you respond to training
  • how compliant you are with recommendations outside of training (eg., sleep routine, nutrition, exercise, etc.)
  • your goals and your testing results

If you elect to receive any biofeedback/neurofeedback services at our office, there is an additional fee of $50 beyond that of an office visit. If you are using insurance, your co-pay and deductible will apply.

In general, neurofeedback training requires a minimum of 20 sessions.  The average number of sessions is 30-50.

The number of sessions required for biofeedback depends on a number of factors, but generally biofeedback (heart rate variability, muscle tension/GSR and temperature training) requires 2-5 sessions.

Costs, Sessions & Insurance Coverage

Neurofeedback is typically provided as a structured series of sessions rather than a one-time service. The total cost of care varies based on your goals, how you respond to training, and the level of assessment and clinical oversight involved.

Assessments & Clinical Oversight

Care generally begins with an intake and assessment process designed to establish a baseline and guide training. This includes:

  • Initial clinical intake

Conducted in person or via telehealth and focused on your history, symptoms, and goals. 45 minutes in duration.

    Fee: $260

  • Midline assessment or qEEG brain mapping

Conducted in person to establish baseline brain activity patterns that help inform training. Both assessments typically last 1–2 hours and may be completed by a trained technician or a licensed clinician. Patients may complete one or both of these assessments.

    • Midline assessment: $260
    • qEEG brain mapping assessment: $800 – $1,000
  • Ongoing clinical check-ins

Typically scheduled monthly or after every 10–20 sessions to review progress and adjust the training plan as needed. 45 minutes in duration.

    Fee: $260 per session

Session-Based Training & Total Investment

Neurofeedback is a cumulative training process. Most clients complete 20–50 sessions, depending on their goals, response to training, and overall plan of care. Session fees are billed separately from assessments and clinical reviews.

For clients paying out of pocket, the total cost reflects the combined investment of assessments, clinical oversight, and training sessions over time. We are happy to discuss expected ranges and help you plan based on your individual needs.

Insurance & Payment Options

Coverage varies by plan and provider. While neurofeedback itself is not universally covered, some related services may be eligible for reimbursement:

  • Motor Vehicle Insurance: Often covers neurofeedback when related to auto accident injuries
  • Workers’ Compensation: May cover neurofeedback when recommended by a treating physician
  • FSA / HSA Accounts: Frequently accepted. Please confirm with your plan administrator
  • DHS Adoption Assistance: In some cases, has covered neurofeedback-related services
  • Private Insurance: At this time, Moda is the primary private insurer allowing direct billing for neurofeedback-related services. A detailed superbill can be provided for clients seeking out-of-network reimbursement through other plans.
